In alignment with the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) goals to prepare the nursing workforce to assume leadership positions, New Jersey Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL NJ) created a structured mentorship program for the development of current and aspiring nurse leaders. This also aligns with Magnet Transformational Leadership standard to advocate for organizational support of leadership development for all nurses through mentoring and succession planning with a purpose to promote innovative professional growth of nurses at all leadership levels. This presentation was originally recorded on Nov. 10, 2020. It will provide you with a roadmap to utilize the successful ONL NJ mentorship program and transfer it to implement a program at your organization.


Target Audience: Nurse managers, nursing coordinators, assistant nurse managers, staff nurses, chief nursing officers, vice presidents of patient care, assistant vice presidents of nursing, administrative directors, directors of nursing , new ONL NJ mentors and mentees, Nursing Workforce Environment Staffing Council (NWESC) members, university deans, nurse educators, nurse researchers and post-acute leaders, nursing home administrators and assisted living administrators.


Learner Outcome: Upon completion of the program, the learner will list 2 strategies to promote a successful ONL NJ mentorship program and transfer these strategies to implement a program in their organization.

Successful completion of the course is defined as in-person attendance for 95 percent of the webinar learning session and a completed course evaluation.
